An Artist’s and Photographers Paradise

The area has many species of wildlife actively feeding and/or nesting at various times of the year. No matter what the season, there is always an opportunity to observe an array of wildlife species, particularly waterfowl. You may see the following in & around the estuary or on your walks and travels around the Bay:

Black Ducks, Green-Winged Teals, Northern Pintails, Common Golden eyes, Buffleheads, Greater Scamps, Canada Goose, Herring Gulls, Black-Back Gulls, Ring-Billed Gulls, Iceland Gulls, Ivory Gulls, Black Headed Gulls, Common Terns, Artic Terns, Greater Goldenlegs, Black-Bellied Plovers, Spotted Sandpipers, Semipalmated Sandpipers, Ruddy Turnstones, Blue Jays, Black-Capped Chickadees, American Robins, Northern Junos, European Starlings, Common Crows, Common Loons, Ruffled Grouse, Osprey, Merlins and Bald Eagles.

· Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, American Eel, Caplin, Squid

· Whales are in the Bay and usually just a short drive to the outer seashore brings good results.

· There are numerous plants in and around the Estuary including Beach plants, Aquatic plants, Salt-Marsh plants and both woodland & barrens plants.

· Moose, Caribou & Beaver on the Avalon

· Seals on the shores sunning themselves or just popping their head out of the water to take a look at you.
